Hollywood was shaken up by the death of the great comedy actor Gene Wilder on Monday.
Wilder, best known for his work on Mel Brooks' comedies "The Producers" and "Young Frankenstein" and the 1971 film "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," died on Monday at 83 from complications related to Alzheimer's disease.
Brooks was among the many stars who paid tribute to Wilder.

Mel Brooks went on Jimmy Fallon's "Tonight Show" Tuesday and gave a touching, hilarious remembrance of how he met Gene Wilder and started working with him on "The Producers" and "Young Frankenstein."

Brooks remembers Wilder sarcastically accepting a lead role in "The Producers" before Brooks had gotten the money to make the film:
"You're doing a play about two Jews who are producing a flop instead of a hit knowing they can make more money with a flop, and the big number is 'Springtime for Hitler.' Yeah, you'll get the money."
